Connected Know is a news and events site published from Rochester, New York. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who sees it and how to have it removed.

Reading the Site

You can read everything on this site without an account. We do not run advertising trackers. Our hosting provider records ordinary server logs (the address a request came from, the page requested, the time) for security and to keep the site running, and uses a visitor’s approximate location, derived from their network address, once, to send them to the nearest city hub. That location is not stored.

What We Collect, and Why

Event registrations and tickets. Your name, email address, and if you give it your organisation, so the organiser can run the door and reach you about the event. Payments for paid tickets are taken by Stripe on its own pages; we never see your card number and hold only Stripe’s reference for the order. Ticket holders and registrants get a reminder email the day before an event.

Founder profiles. What you enter in the profile form. It is used to write your Founder Insights story, and your company’s name, logo, website, sector, headquarters and founding year appear in the Connected Index and on the company’s business profile once approved. The profile itself is not published. Your email address and phone number are never published and are used to let you sign in and for our editors to reach you.

Tips, submissions and contact messages. What you write and the name and email address you give, so we can reply. When you submit an event, we use your email address to let you know if it is selected. Notes that readers sent to founders before September 15, 2026, when that feature was paused, are kept for as long as they are useful.

Rate limiting. Public forms keep a one-way hash of the network address they were sent from, for a short period, to stop a single connection flooding them. The hash cannot be turned back into an address.

Who Sees It

The editors who run the site, and the people you are writing to, such as an event organiser. Our service providers process data on our behalf and on our instructions: Supabase (database and sign-in), Vercel (hosting), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), and OpenStreetMap’s Nominatim, which receives venue addresses, never people, to place events on a map. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it with advertisers.

Cookies

A session cookie is set only when you sign in to the Company Portal or the admin. Nothing is set for reading. Your browser may keep a few preferences for you (a chosen layout, for instance). Those never leave your device.

How Long We Keep It

We keep registrations and tickets for as long as the event is on the site and for our records of it afterwards. We keep founder profiles for as long as the profile exists, messages and notes for as long as they are useful to reply to, and server logs only briefly.

Your Choices

Companies can update their listing in the Company Portal, or ask us to hide it, at any time. Anyone can ask to see, correct or delete what we hold about them by emailing team@connectedknow.com. We answer within thirty days and delete unless we are required to keep a record (a paid order, for example, for accounting).

Children

The site is for people in business and is not directed at children under 16.

Changes

When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Questions about this policy or the terms of service can be sent to team@connectedknow.com.
