Editorial Policy

This policy sets out the standards Connected Know applies to everything it publishes, and what to do if we get something wrong.

Accuracy and Sources

We report what we can stand behind. Facts about a company come from the company, from public filings and announcements, from people in a position to know, or from our own reporting, and we say which. Quotations are the person’s own words, taken from an interview or from written answers they gave us, and are never invented or reworded into the first person. When a claim cannot be checked, we attribute it or leave it out.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made by our editors and nobody else. Advertisers, sponsors, partners and the subjects of stories do not see stories before publication and cannot change them. A founder can ask us to correct a fact in their profile story, but cannot approve or veto it.

Anything paid for is labeled where it appears. Events from organizations we work with are marked Connected Partners on the events rail, and our own events are marked Connected Know Local. A sponsored story, should we run one, is labeled as sponsored at the top of the story and in its listing. Stock tickers on the strip under the masthead are market data, not recommendations. We are not a licensed adviser and publish nothing that should be read as investment advice.

Software Assistance

We use software in two places, and we disclose both. Events are gathered from public calendars by automated crawling and classified by rules before an editor approves each one. Founder Insights profiles begin with a questionnaire the founder fills in. A first draft is assembled from those answers with the help of a language model, using only the facts the founder supplied about themselves and public information about their company. That draft is then reported, edited and fact-checked by an editor, who is responsible for what is published. No story is published without a person having read and approved it.

Corrections

If we get something wrong, email team@connectedknow.com with “Correction” in the subject line, or use the contact page. We check every request. A factual error is corrected in the story and noted at the end of it with the date of the correction. An error significant enough to change the meaning of a story is noted at the top. Typos and formatting are fixed without a note. We do not remove a story simply because its subject would prefer we had not published it.

People in Our Stories

Founder Insights stories start from a questionnaire the founder fills in, and nothing is published until an editor has reviewed it. We do not publish a way to contact a founder directly, and email addresses and phone numbers we hold are never published. See the privacy policy.
